Meet comic artist Mariano B. Chapo at Summer Spectacular
Mariano Benitez-Chapo is an Argentinian-born comic book artist and graduate of The Kubert School whose rapidly growing career includes work for Dynamite Entertainment on Vampirella, Elvira, Savage Tales, Wacky Races and more. He is currently the interior artist on Dynamite’s four-issue Altered States: Warlords series, bringing together characters including Red Sonja, John Carter, Tarzan and Vampirella.

Mariano Benitez-Chapo is an Argentinian-born comic book artist and illustrator who graduated from New Jersey’s legendary Kubert School in 2021 before launching his professional comics career.
His early professional work with Dynamite Entertainment included contributions to Savage Tales, where he illustrated stories featuring Vampirella and other pulp and adventure characters. Since then, his credits have expanded to include characters and properties such as Elvira, Red Sonja, John Carter of Mars, Tarzan, James Bond and Wacky Races.
Chapo has become a recurring collaborator with writer David Avallone, including multiple Savage Tales stories. In 2026, that collaboration expanded into Chapo’s biggest project to date: Dynamite Entertainment’s four-issue Altered States: Warlords. The alternate-reality adventure brings together Red Sonja, John Carter, Dejah Thoris, Tarzan and Vampirella on the world of Barsoom, with Chapo serving as the series’ interior artist as well as contributing a series of connecting covers.
His recent work also includes Vampirella Helliday, Giant-Sized Savage Tales and Giant-Size Wacky Races. Dynamite has repeatedly featured Chapo on Vampirella stories, including the 2024 and 2025 Helliday specials
