Bob Budiansky is one of the most influential writers and editors in comic book history. During his tenure at Marvel Comics in the early 1980s, he was tasked with helping transform a new line of Hasbro toys into fully developed characters and stories. The result was the foundation of the Transformers universe as fans know it today.

Working alongside Marvel and Hasbro, Budiansky created the names, personalities, strengths, weaknesses, and character biographies for dozens of the franchise's most iconic Autobots and Decepticons. Characters including Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Soundwave, Starscream, Grimlock, Shockwave, Jazz, Ironhide, and many others received defining traits that continue to influence Transformers media decades later.

Outside of Transformers, Budiansky created Marvel's supernatural hero Sleepwalker, one of the publisher's most memorable original characters of the 1990s.
