Ann Nocenti has built a distinctive career in comics through fearless storytelling, memorable characters, and stories that explore the world beyond the superhero costume. A writer, editor, journalist, and filmmaker, she is best known for her influential run on Marvel’s Daredevil, where she brought social issues and complex moral questions into Matt Murdock’s world.

Working with artist John Romita Jr., Nocenti co-created Typhoid Mary, one of Daredevil’s most recognizable adversaries. She also teamed with artist Arthur Adams on the original Longshot miniseries, introducing Longshot, Mojo, and Spiral to the Marvel Universe. As an editor, she helped shape Uncanny X-Men and The New Mutants during the 1980s.

Her writing credits extend to Spider-Woman and Firestar at Marvel, as well as Catwoman, Katana, Klarion, and Kid Eternity at DC. Her creator-owned work includes The Seeds with David Aja and Ruby Falls with Flavia Biondi, both published by Dark Horse’s Berger Books imprint.

Beyond comics, Nocenti’s work includes journalism, screenwriting, documentary filmmaking, and film education. She has taught filmmaking in Haiti and contributed to museum projects, including Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes. Across these creative disciplines, her work reflects an enduring interest in challenging expectations and exploring the human stories behind larger conflicts.
