Meet Chris Ryall at Super Jersey Comic Expo 2026!
Chris Ryall is an American comic book editor, writer, and publisher whose work has shaped modern creator-owned and licensed comics for two decades. He joined IDW Publishing in 2004 as Editor-in-Chief, later becoming the company’s first Chief Creative Officer and ultimately serving as President, Publisher, and CCO—helping expand IDW’s creative output and partnerships while also writing projects such as Shaun of the Dead (comic adaptation) and co-writing Rom.
In 2022, Ryall co-founded Syzygy Publishing as an imprint at Image Comics, launching with the Eisner-nominated Joe Hill’s Rain and continuing with Syzygy titles including Zombies vs Robots, Onyx, The Hollows, and Tales of Syzpense.
His storytelling and production work also extends beyond comics: he has producer credits including Locke & Key (TV) and has worked in development on additional screen projects noted by Image Comics.
Outside publishing, Ryall has been appointed to San Diego’s Board of Library Commissioners (District 5), reflecting his long-standing connection to books, literacy, and community programming.
